Welcome Deacon Thiago
It was wonderful to be at the Parish this past weekend and to meet some of you during
the Liturgies. I must confess that I came back to the seminary overjoyed and amazed to
see how good and welcoming you all are.
I saw many beautiful families united in prayer and that reminded me of mine. Since my early years my beloved late mother Laura and my beloved father Sergio passed on the faith to me in our home back in Brazil.
Just as Abram left his home and set out to a distant land promised by God, I also left my home and my family in Brazil in January 2020, arriving in the U.S.A ready to serve the Church in the Diocese of Fall River, MA. For the past two years I have been a seminarian at the Immaculate Conception Seminary at Seton Hall University.
I was ordained a deacon this past May in my home diocese of Fall River, Massachusetts, and – God willing – I will be ordained a priest for the Diocese of Fall River in June 2023. Part of the seminary formation process is for deacons to be assigned to a parish for weekend service. With great joy I was assigned to Saint James the Apostle Church to obtain more pastoral experience as I continue to be trained for the priesthood.
I would like to express my gratitude to God for being sent to St. James. From the bottom of my heart, I feel that I will be very happy serving God and the people of St. James during this year. Please pray for me so that the Lord may strengthen my desire to serve Him and give Him my heart and my whole being daily.
