Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas and greetings for a Healthy, Happy and Safe New Year!! The St. James Priests, Catechists and I look forward to assisting you in preparing your child for the Sacrament of Confirmation which will take place early in the Fall of 2018.
Our first parent meeting is Tuesday, November 29, 2017, at 7:00PM in the Church.
As a reminder, while you are visiting with your family over Christmas, please ask them to write a Palanca Letter to your child. A Palanca Letter is a letter of love and encouragement. These letters will be due JUNE 18, 2018. They are a surprise so do not tell or share with the children!!
Please mark your new 2017-2018 calendar with these important dates!:
Wednesday, November 29 @ 7:00PM in the Church: Parent (only) meeting. Packets containing forms and information will be distributed at this meeting; one parent must attend.
Preparation Class Dates: Students are required to attend all four classes (6:30-8:30PM) Hatcher Hall:** Notes can be provided to sports coaches to exempt your child from practice/games or other events.
Tuesday, May 8, 2018
Tuesday, May 22, 2018 (Project Pride)
Tuesday, June 5, 2018
Tuesday, June 12, 2018
** Assignments will be given and due during these classes.
We can supply you with a letter if any of these dates conflict with sports, just let Mrs. Gesualdo know – sacramental preparation allows students to miss games / practices.
Monday, June 18, 2018, in 7:00PM – Hatcher Hall: Final parent meeting and confirming of Sacramental Mass. Please note, families will not receive their mass placement until all assignments and paperwork are submitted.
Students Community Service is to be completed by June 6 and logged onto the website – no paper copies!
Retreat: Saturday, September 29, 2018 – To Be Determined. All students are required to attend – 1:00-5:00PM.
Students will be required to write a report on their Confirmation (Saint) Name Report so they should begin to think about choosing a Confirmation Name. Students will be given a copy of these instructions during their religion class.
As the new year begins, I wanted to take this opportunity to remind you that your child should be working towards their 20 hours of community service, (some may have more) and let you know of upcoming opportunities for service. IF you commit your child to any of these opportunities, please know that I will be counting on them and turning others away so if you DO commit, and something happens and your child can not fulfill the commitment, please let me know ASAP.
